General Performance:
Summary:
The Intel processors have a distinct advantage in the memory bandwidth department thanks to the faster DDR2 memory that they are making use of. That is not to say that AMD's unbuffered memory bandwidth is poor - they're just requiring a higher memory bus speed to compete in this department. DVD Shrink is a multi-threaded application, and as such the Athlon X2 4800+'s two cores really help breeze through our benchmark, whilst the Pentium 4's and Pentium D 820 are not too far behind.
The remaining benchmarks are both single threaded, and as such the FX-57 really dominates proceedings. The Pentium 4 XE 3.73GHz puts up a strong show in SuperPI thanks to its increased front side bus which delivers more bandwidth to the platform in general.
